They did a good job here, and for a long time it was the only Doom 3 mod IвЂ™ve heard of thatвЂ™s wasnвЂ™t some co-op multiplayer mod. Remaking older games on newer engines is a nice treat, and still being done today with stuff like Black Mesa. In spite of the hilarious cutscenes and mixed level design, Classic Doom for Doom 3 is a pretty fun mod all things considered. Gotta give them credit for keeping the spirit of the original as much as possible. Hell, it wouldвЂ™ve been funny to see them tackle Doom II and try to figure out Sandy PetersenвЂ™s abominations like The Chasm or Nirvana and make them actually look like realisticВ locations. Which is sad, because I wouldвЂ™ve loved to see them try to remake later levels like the Slough of Despair with itвЂ™s hand-shaped level layout, or Mt.

Or maybe it was, who knows?ДЄlas, the mod team decided not to continue remaking the later episodes of Doom, likely for legal reasons. IвЂ™ll give them points for originality, but this is hilarious to watch, which is probably not the mod teamвЂ™s intent. The mod ends with a hilarious cutscene of Doomguy ripping through enemies while some guy narrates the ending text screen from episode 1 in a modulated voice. I mean, itвЂ™s idTech4 weвЂ™re talking here, IвЂ™m not expecting these to be well lit.

The mod ends with E1M8: Phobos Anomaly, fighting the olвЂ™ Bruiser Brothers вЂ“ a pair of Hell Knights in this case вЂ“ and the fightвЂ™s no different than the original, just in a much darker space. Sonic Clang does a good job with the remixes, which you can listen to on his official YouTube page or on Spotify. A lot of the more subdued tracks in the original DoomвЂ™s soundtrack keep that same atmosphere without trying to overdo it like some metal remixes IвЂ™ve heard. ItвЂ™s like they gave up.ДЄs for the music, itвЂ™s rockinвЂ™ remixes of Bobby PrinceвЂ™s stuff from the original game. This doesnвЂ™t look nearly as good as the earlier levels.
